Frequently Asked Questions

Shop FAQ

Our Shop means the section of our site with purchasable stock items. Items that are ready to ship in 3-6 business days, and are not custom-made commission items.

Why does it take 3-6 days to ship my item?

Because we hand-make everything in the store, and we offer a large size range on clothing, so we don’t always have everything in-stock. We only have the materials in stock.

Sometimes it takes a couple days to create the item for you!

Do you make everything in your shop?

Yes! Everything in the store is hand made by our studio in Nashville, TN.

Are you willing to negotiate your prices?

Nope. The price is the price, which is based on cost of materials, and production. Keep an eye out for occasional sales if you desire a deal.

Can I do a payment plan for a pre-made fursuit listed in your Shop?

No. You must be able to pay for it in full.

We do offer payment plans on commissioned items. Please see our commission sections for further info.

Can I get a customized version of something you carry in your Shop?

Yes! Please just email us (info@handmadefursuit.com) and tell us what you are interested in.

We can also do something more custom with added details.

Extra fees may apply, and you may be subject to an elongated turn around time if the item is complex. We will let you know all of these things in the quote & negotiation process, so you will know upfront.

How do I know the item will fit me?

Provided in each listing of a clothing item is a size chart. PLEASE compare your measurements to the provided size chart to test fit.

Non-clothing items often have the size listed in inches, so you can also check things like the length of a tail to know how low it will hang on your body and so-forth.

What is the turnaround time for a custom fursuit partial/full/component?

As of November 2021, any custom fursuits we take on will have a turnaround time of approximately one year from the point where we have all your payments, measurements, and DTD. Previously accepted commissions are still staying within their 6-8 month turnaround time.

Parts commissions’ turnaround time varies on a case-by-case basis.

If you’re curious what your potential commission’s turnaround time would be, please email us at info@handmadefursuit.com to get an estimated turnaround time.

Are you willing to use someone else’s head base to make my fursuit head?

No, we are not. This is to ensure consistency with our style.

Do you make copies of fursuits you’ve made before?

No, we will not make duplicates. The only exception is if the owner of the fursuit wants a duplicate of their own design, and the purchase is made directly from the owner.

Can you make protogens / manokits / Dutch Angel Dragons / other unique species?

Absolutely! We love making new and unique designs.

A note on Protogens: We do NOT make Protogens.

Can you make a suit in the style of ?

No! We like to do suits in our own style, and we don’t want to copy anyone else.

If you like the style of another maker, then we recommend trying to commission them instead. 🙂 There are plenty of awesome makers out there.

Why are your suits so expensive?

Each custom fursuit is specially made just for the individual commissioning. That takes time and money!

You are paying experts to create a one-of-a-kind piece of artwork for you. That takes high cost, high quality materials, extensive communication, time to carve heads, pattern custom fitted garments, expertise, and years of practice in the industry.

All of this amounts to the price of the suit. There are cheaper fursuit makers our there, but be aware that sometimes a cheaper price may mean cheaper quality.
